Peggy Morgan is the adoptive mother of Billy Ray who is now 25 years old. Her experience with disabled persons includes working in a state institution, being a foster parent, group home manager, assistant director in a small residential and vocational program for mentally challenged adults and a professional fiduciary.
At the time of Billy Ray's adoption he came with the diagnosis of Down's Syndrome and chronic ear infections. At five he was diagnosed with ADHD and at seven bipolar - manic/depressive. At fourteen he experienced a medication reaction causing a series of life threatening and life changing seizures. He has brought his mother and the professionals involved in his care numerous challenges. Several professionals have described him as one of the most complicated cases they have ever worked with. When many of the professionals didn't have answers the challenge to his parents created a need for what Peggy calls "bootstrap learning". She has frequently been encouraged to share her insight in some form of parent training.
Through speaking, writing, her websites, blogs and a support group at YahooGroups wants to offer support to parents and foster parents experiencing similar challenges. If you would like to join the group or we can help in any way please let us know.
